Press release:

Police are appealing for information about a robbery and attempted burglary.

A couple visited a cash machine in Winster Mews, Glossop, at about 11.05pm on Thursday 13th January.

While the woman, who is in her 20s, used the machine, her disabled partner sat in his car nearby. She was approached by three men, who threatened her and demanded money. One of the men then approached the car and threatened the man.

The couple did not hand over any property and drove home together.

At around 12.45am the following morning, the couple were asleep at their home in Totley Green when they heard shouting outside and the sound of smashing glass.

The man, who is in his 40s, went to investigate and found three men trying to break in. He called police and they ran off.

Officers have arrested two men, aged 18 and 25, in connection with both incidents. They have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information should call police on 0345 123 33 33 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

From conversations with some local’s there is a concern that the details put forward by the Police don’t cover all the issues around the story, but I would echo my comments in the paper’s that this type of incident is very rare both locally and across the High Peak, and the welcome fast response from the police in making several quick arrests, will I hope prevent this type of incident from happening again.
