Derbyshire Alert : Van Break-ins
Message from Derbyshire Alert to residents Of Gamesley And St Johns over van break-ins.
For the attention of residents particularly those who keep tools inside their vehicles in the Glossop and Gamesley areas.
Between 25th and 27th of February 2019 there were a number of reported thefts of tools from un-attended vans reported to the Police.
If you have any information with regard to this type of offence or offences, or if you know who may be responsible, then please ring Derbyshire Constabulary on 101.
You can if you wish consider reporting information, anonymously, on Crime stoppers tel – 0800 555 111Lets make it harder and more difficult for this type of thief – report any suspicious activity or persons at or near these types of vehicles to the Police.
Some general Crime Prevention Advice from the Safer Neighbourhood Team
We advise van owners who keep and contain tools in their vehicles to :-
a] to use locks and alarms if fitted on your vehicle.
b] remove your tools at night or if out of view if possible from your van.
c] consider photographing your tools.
d] mark them and make them distinct.
