Trains
There will be no trains from Glossop to Manchester on Christmas Day and Boxing Day; disruption is likely for early morning journeys on other days over the Christmas period.
If you are travelling beyond Manchester, many engineering works are taking place; please check with Northern Rail before travelling.
High Peak Borough Council
Council Offices and receptions will be closed from 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, until Thursday, January 2, 2025, when they will reopen as normal.

Tuesday 24th Decembers, brown bin collection, will take place as normal.
The black bin collection due on Tuesday 31st December, will instead take place on Monday 30th December.

Church Services
If you’re looking for Roman Catholic midnight mass, your nearest choice is 6 pm at St Charles or 5.45 pm for carols, followed by 6.00 pm mass at St Mary’s in Glossop.
For the Church of England, there’s a crib service at 4 pm at St John’s in Charlesworth, and then it’s 11.30 pm for midnight communion again at St John’s in Charlesworth. Dinting Church has a crib service at 5 pm on Christmas Eve.
For Christmas Day services, if you are looking for Roman Catholic, there is the Immaculate Conception at 9.15 am, All Saints at 10 am, and St Charles at 11 am.
