Trains
There will be no trains from Glossop to Machester on Christmas Day and Boxing Day; disruption is likely for early morning journeys on other days over the Christmas period.
If you are travelling beyond Manchester, many engineering works are taking place; please check with Northern Rail before travelling.
High Peak Borough Council
Council Offices and receptions will be closed to the public from Saturday, 23rd December and reopen on Tuesday, 2nd January 2024.

If you need to contact the Council, the Call Centre will be open during Christmas and New Year on Wednesday, 27, Thursday, 28 and Friday, 29, December from 9.00 am – 4.00 pm.

There will be no bin collections on Monday 26th, 27th December and Monday 2nd January. Bin rounds have been rearranged to accommodate any changes.
No green-lidded bins will be collected between Monday, 26th December and Monday, 9th January.
Gamesley & Cottage Lane – Normal collection day Tuesday
The brown bin collection, due to take place on Tuesday, 26th December, will instead take place on Thursday, 29th December.
Glossop Road – Normal Collection Wednesday
No changes – Brown bin as usual on Wednesday, 28th December.

Church Services
If you’re looking for Roman Catholic midnight mass, your nearest choice is 6 pm at St Charles or 5.45 pm for carols, followed by 6.00 pm mass at St Mary’s in Glossop.
For the Church of England, there’s a crib service at 4 pm at St John’s in Charlesworth, and then it’s 11.30 pm for midnight communion again at St John’s in Charlesworth. Dinting Church has a chocolate nativity at 5 pm on Christmas Eve.
For Christmas Day services, if you are looking for roman catholic, there is the Immaculate Conception at 9.30 am, St Mary’s at 9.15 am and St Charles at 11 am. For the Church of England, it’s 10.00 for the joint communion service at St John’s and 9.30 am at Dinting Church.
