Event – The Women’s Quilt – Fri 7th Sep
This coming Friday (7th September) at the 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start, there will be a display of the Women’s Quilt at Glossop Labour Club along with speakers.
If you’ve not heard of the Women’s Quilt, delegates from the High Peak Co-op Party, who were at the Co-op Party Conference in London last year when they saw a display of the quilt.
The quilt has been produced to commemorate the victims of domestic abuse and is made up of 598 patches, one for every woman killed between 2009 and 2015.
So impressed were we with the quilt, which has been described as ‘the most beautiful project that shouldn’t exist’ we decided to organise a showing of the quilt in conjunction with Crossroads (formerly High Peak Women’s Aid) at the Glossop Labour Club.
At the event on Friday, we will have the creator of the project Cllr Roxanne Ellis, a Labour and Co-op Councillor on Gedling Council speaking along with Vicky from Crossroads.
Please come along if you can – Any funds raised from this event will go to Crossroads to support their work.
