Town Hall Sessions
Town Hall Sessions : In year’s past as it’s almost the August bank holiday weekend, I’d be highlighting Glossop’s answer to Glastonbury, but without the need for tents or camping (unless you really really wanted to) with the Bankswood Festival, however this year for reasons more eloquently explained here and in support of the wider Glossop Hall’s project, Bankswood this year has been replaced by the Town Hall Sessions.
Taking place in Glossop’s Norfolk Square and at eight venues across Glossop and Old Glossop, Friday, Saturday and Sunday will see a wide selection of music from indy / rock bands to a ladies choir, folk groups and more.
You can see a list of the acts over the weekend by clicking here, and download the weekend’s program by clicking here
If you’ve never heard of Bankswood, and you’re not sure what to expect you can get a rough guide to proceedings with these images from last year’s Bankswood :
Along with clips on Youtube available by clicking here for Saturday and here for Sunday and if you’re not sure what a stage in Norfolk Square will look like, you can get a rough idea from last year’s baptism on the square by clicking here.
Whilst the Town Halls Sessions are free, the ‘sessions’ organisers need your support and they have set up a Crowdfunding page where there are various options available to suit every wallet, and you can support the festival this way by clicking here. There will also be wristbands, t-shirts and other merchandise to buy over the weekend, along with no doubt the Howard Town Brewery beer tent for those more essential supplies.
