Bank Holiday Buses / Glossop Local Link Reminder
Bank Holiday Buses / Glossop Local Link Reminder : Monday (28th August) sees the last of this year’s summer bank holiday’s, which means that local buses, are a little differently with just the Glossop Local Link, 236/7, and 61 running.
For us locally (on Gamesley) it means there will be just the Glossop Local Link running – click here for more details or see the reminder details below.
Elsewhere across Glossopdale the 236/7 (Glossop to Ashton) is running to Sunday times, with the 61 (Glossop to Buxton) also running to Sunday times. You can view details by clicking here (local bus services).
Don’t forget if you’re out for the day, a day ticket can offer a cheaper option, with a whole range available from the bus operators own tickets to the SystemOne / Getmethere tickets which can also cover trains and trams – click here for details
In year’s past Monday would also have seen the last chance for this year of venturing directly to Huddersfield from Glossop on the bus, sadly this year it has not run, however if you are looking for a day out in Yorkshire, just on Friday’s South Pennine Community Transport’s 351 to Holmfirth runs all year round.
Glossop Local Link Reminder : Don’t forget that although we have no normal buses on Gamesley (Charlesworth or Broadbottom) in the evenings or Sunday’s and the forthcoming bank holiday Monday, we do have the Local Link Service.
Available from 6.00pm Monday to Saturday and from 6.00am Sundays and Bank Holidays, and running until 10.00pm, Local Link covers the route of the former Glossop to Hyde via Gamesley, Charlesworth and Broadbottom 202 service.
The main differences are that you have to register for the service, and also book in advance for each journey, additionally there is a charge for concessionary pass holders, additionally the service picks you up from as near to your front door as possible rather than from a bus stop.
However, you pay a fixed fare – no matter how long your journey – so you’ll know exactly how much it will cost before you travel.
To register for the service, you can either ring 0161 200 6012 or fill out a form on the Transport for Greater Manchester website by clicking here
Once registered you can then book journeys either by phone on 0161 200 6012 or online by clicking here.
The call centre is open 7 days a week from 7am – 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am – 8pm Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
You can book journeys up to a week in advance, and although you can sometimes ring up and get a same day journey, you are recommended to book 24 hours in advance (and if you use the online bookings system you have to book 24 hours in advance).
Once booked, you then just need to turn up for your journey and pay your fare to the driver, the current fare are :
Adult Single £2.50
60+ Concession Single Before 09:30 £2.50 – 60+ Concession Single After 09:30 £1.20
Child / Disabled £1.20
