Shire Hill Hospital – Under threat
At a meeting of the Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group’s single commissioning board that took place yesterday (22nd August), the board agreed to start a consultation for 12 weeks on the arrangements for ‘Intermediate Care in Tameside and Glossop”
You can read the paper that board considered by clicking here along with appendixes mentioned :
- ITEM 6(a) – Appendix 5 – EIA , item 6a PDF 536 KB
- ITEM 6(a) – Appendix 5 maps , item 6a PDF 7 MB
- ITEM 6(a) – Appendix 6 – IC Consultation Questions , item 6a PDF 74 KB
The consultation, that the board agreed to, will consider 3 options :
Option 1 – Maintain Current Arrangements
Option 2 – All bed-based intermediate care in a single location at the Stamford Unit (The Clinical Commissioning Groups preferred option)
Option 3 – Develop a scheme of bed based intermediate care within local private care homes
Both options 2 and option 3 would see all beds removed from Shire Hill Hospital.
You can view further information on the consultation on the Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group’s website at : http://www.tamesideandglossopccg.org/intermediatecare or in the booklet below :

I’ve asked for an urgent meeting for councillors to hear further details on the proposals and put questions to representatives of the CCG, and they have advised that meetings in Glossop to present the proposal and the consultation process should be taking place shortly – and as soon as I have dates I will advise them.
You can respond to the consultation via an online survey at : http://www.tamesideandglossopccg.org/intermediatecare – You can pick up a paper copy at local GP’s across Tameside and Glossop.
and you can write to them at: NHS Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group, Dukinfield Town Hall, King Street, Dukinfield. SK16 4LA or email us at: tgccg.communications@nhs.net
Whilst petitions and protest may be needed in the future – the Clinical Commissioning Group advise that no decision has yet been made and for now the most important thing you can do to help Shire Hill Hosptial is respond to the consultation rejecting options 2 and 3, raising any concerns that you may have over how the proposals would effect you.
