If you go down to the woods – meet the neighbours 2016
This Wednesday (17th August), you will be able to see an unusual site on the square at the shops at Winster Mews, which for one day only will be converted to a magical wood land for a special event from 12.00noon until 3.00pm
The event, which has been put together by Gamesley’s G52, Thriving Communities and High Peak BC who are holding their annual ‘Meet the neighbours’ event.
You will meet owls, hissing cockroaches and all sorts of wild and wonderful beasties.
You can enjoy a BBQ, build a bird box, or have your face painted or for those more adventurous you can have a blind folded taste test in “Im a woodlander, get me out of here”.
Additionally whilst you are enjoying a tasty burger, you can find our more about wood safety, BBQ safety and how to recycle your household waste, along with a fruits of the forest sundae for desert, and a bag of wood chippings to help your garden grow.
In addition there will also be a few stalls, and a raffle along with a story teller and lots more.
If you’re not sure what to expected you can see pictures from last years meet the neighbours, when the square was converted into a beach for the day, by clicking here.
To arrange these events, it takes many helpers and in addition to the ‘meet the neighbours’ event, we have our community bonfire and fireworks coming up in November, along with our festival market at the end of November, and if you can help (especially for the bonfire) please get in touch.
