Old Glossop Victorian Market
Last Sunday (7th December) as one of the events organised to get ‘Christmas in Glossop‘ off to a great start, a festive victorian market took place in Old Glossop.
Organised by High Peak Nightstop, Old Glossop Residents Association and Old Glossop Parish Church, the main street of Old Glossop was transformed to a hub of seasonal merriment, with a great range of stalls, activities and entertainment including bell ringing at the Church, morris dancing, lantern parade and carol singing, along with the all important (for a cold winters day) mulled wine and local ales from the Howard Town Brewery.
The event also saw the villages former Co-op store returned to a hub of retail activity for one day with Glossop’s One 17 bakers been amongst the traders that made it their home for the day.
Although the weather was a little dubious at times during the afternoon, it seemed a great time was had by all in attendance and thanks must go out to all the organisers, stall holders and entertainers especially the children from St Margarets and All Saints Schools that led the carol singing.
