October Safer Neighbourhood Meeting
Last Wednesday (10th October) afternoon saw the most recent meeting of the Gamesley and St John’s Safer Neighbourhood Team.
In terms of priorities the current one around drugs issues was withdrawn, but the one on burglaries and metal thefts will be continued.
One particular issue was raised around getting intelligence, with option of people reporting issues or concerns for the police via CrimeStoppers as this allows anonymous reporting, and if you have anything you feel you want to raise with them you can contact CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
In terms of crime figures between April and October, violence against the person, criminal damage and drugs offences were down, ‘stealing’ (including burglary) and anti-social behaviour issues were up, however despite the increase in ASB issues, the figure for Gamesley and St John’s is still the lowest in the patch which includes Glossop, Hadfield and New Mills.
The police will again be doing particular work around Halloween; including the usual school visits in addition the poster for your door is available from the Safer Neighbourhood Team or from the Derbyshire Police Website by clicking here
The meeting also included a mini meet of the local action group, which considered updates on the rendering work, credit union, ASB cases, along with reports on the tenancy health checks and information on the letter’s that will be going out to anyone who currently receives housing benefit and will be effected by the changes coming in place next April.
