Gamesley Bridge Closure – A626 Glossop to Charlesworth Road
From 22.00 (10 pm) until 7 am from Monday 18th July until Friday 22nd July, the A626 Glossop Road, which runs from the junction with the A57 at the former plough inn up to Charlesworth, will be closed at Gamesley Bridge.
The works are badged as been by Network Rail and are to facilitate bridge examination works.
Derbyshire County Council is advising the following alternative route:
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Marple Road, Glossop Road, Dinting Vale, High Street West, Victoria Street, Charlestown Road, Charlestown, Chunal, Chapel Road, New Mills Road, Hayfield Road, Low Leighton Road, Albion Road, Buxton Road into Cheshire East Hazel Grove and Marple Bridge and vice versa.
However, local knowledge / other alternative routes may be better depending on your journey.
They also advise that access will be maintained, whenever reasonably possible, on the affected road length. The road will re-open as soon as the works finish.
Derbyshire County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused while work takes place.
Anyone needing further information should ring Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190.
The alert on the roadworks system also flags roadworks in connection with the inspection occurring between Monday and Friday.
It is possible that with the issues elsewhere on the railways, Network Rail may change these works – but as of 3.30 pm on Monday, they are still showing on the system.
