Last Thursday evening at the Gamesley Community Primary School, the Gamesley Celebration of Achievements took place.
The celebration which is an annual event organised by G52 seeks to celebrate the locals working in and around the Gamesley community to support and improve the community.
Locals were nominated to receive the award by a range of agencies, groups and individuals working on the estate including local councillors, the Gamesley PCSO, and the boxing club.
The awards were then presented at the celebration on Thursday by local councillors Bob Mckeown and Becki Woods, and High Peak MP Ruth George.
Amongst the nominees, was Caitlin Oldham who at the age of 13 organised a coffee morning for Macmillian which raised £450, Emma Churchman who ran the London marathon also in aid of Macmillian. Sharon Rowlands who helped deal with a variety of local animal problems, Sarah Steele for her work on the Gamesley Youth Gatherings Project.
An award was also made to the staff of and Gamesley Library itself in recognition of both 30 years of the library at its current location, and the resilience of the staff during a challenging year.
