Charlesworth & Chisworth Carnival 2018 Road Closure
As flagged on an earlier post tomorrow (Saturday 14th July) sees the Charlesworth and Chisworth Carnival take place. You can see details about the carnival by clicking here.
To help make the carnival an even safer event as per the details below from the Carnival Facebook page, the A626 Glossop to Marple Road will be closed between St Margaret’s and Woodseats Lane from 12.30pm until approximately 1.15pm, meaning you will not be able to get from Glossop to Marple, or go via Charlesworth to Broadbottom for the duration of the closure (and vice versa if you are coming the other way).
In theory for the times the road is closed, there should be no effect on the 341 Glossop to Hyde bus service, as long as it is running on time – if not there may well be delays to the journeys between 12pm and 2pm.
***ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION***
Carnival 2018 will take place on Saturday 14th July.
This year we have been lucky enough to obtain a road closure for the A626. The road from Woodseats lane to St Margaret’s school will be closed in BOTH directions from 12:30 until approx 13:15.
It became necessary to obtain a closure for the main road as unfortunately in previous years road users had refused our polite requests to stop whilst the parade passes. We felt this put the participants at too great a risk.
We will still manage the traffic around the parade as it assembles and disperses. Please bear with us as we try and keep the traffic flowing and appreciate you have places to go.
Better to be late than not at all!
Carnival parking is available at the rugby club. There is NO other allocated carnival parking. Parade participants will NOT be allowed to enter st Margaret’s school car park, please park at the rugby club and walk down.
Please remember to arrive early, park sensibly and have a great day.
