Glossopdale Community College – New Build

Glossopdale Community College – New Build : Despite the grim tidings regarding local services from reading this weeks local papers, with thanks to the continued efforts of our local county councillors, works on replacing the existing buildings that make up Glossopdale Community College continue, with this afternoon seeing an exhibition of the proposed design for the new build to replace the existing buildings at Talbot Road and New Shaw Lane.

Although I’m sure the new plans, will be available for on-line viewing shortly, I hope you can get a rough idea of the proposals from the pictures below :

The new site will be built on the existing New Shaw Lane site (at the back of the existing youth centre) with the existing sites at New Shaw Lane, and Talbot Road in Glossop to continue in use until the new building is finished.

From the details been advised by the officers from the County Council in attendance, it is expected that planning approval will be sought shortly with building to commence by June this year, with the new building expected to be in full use during 2018, with demolition of the existing buildings to take place once the new one is in use.
