For those of you that haven’t seen the results yet, the result was as follows :
GAMESLEY WARD | 1 seat | |
---|---|---|
Name of Candidate | Description (if any) | Votes |
MCKEOWN, Anthony Edward | The Labour Party Candidate | 389 ELECTED |
EVANS, Brian | Conservative Party Candidate | 84 |
A big thank you to all those who have helped during the election campaign, and many thanks to the council’s election staff, both on polling day and at the count, in addition my thanks to my opponent who ran a fair and policy based campaign.
The election results across the High Peak were very good for the Labour Party and it was particularly pleasing to see the majority of Gamesley return to being represented by Labour, with the election of Edward Siddall to replace the former Tory councillor who was elected alongside Bob (the other Cllr Mckeown) in Hadfield South.
The overall result will mean that there will be both a number of changes and challenges to come at the council the details of which will become clearer in the forthcoming days and week.
