Labour Party Internal Elections (NEC / Treasurer) – My recommendations
Local labour party members will shortly be receiving their ballot papers for the leadership election and a number of internal party elections including the national executive committee and national treasurer.
For what’s it’s worth if you are considering who to vote for, the people getting my vote in the national executive committee election are : Ellie Reeves, Ann Black, Peter Wheeler, Luke Akehurst, Johanna Baxter and John Wiseman.
There’s a combination of reasons why these folk are getting my vote, from my own personal experience of there effectiveness in terms of organising and campaigning for the likes of Peter Wheeler, Luke Akehurst and John Wiseman, to there useful regular reporting of the on goings of the NEC from Ann Black, to there help during the past year for issues involving the High Peak from Ellie Reeves and lastly to support a fellow constituency secretary who whilst not appearing on either of the recognised slates got a good number of nominations, and has a strong trade union background in Johanna Baxter.
Moving on to national treasurer, I’m a bit torn, with the two candidates both having a strong background in the party and one of the two being supported by a nomination from my own union in Diane Holland, I think however I’ll go for the recently ennobled John Prescott, who with his campaign efforts in go forth and understanding of the challenges ahead may be a better role.
Further details will be out to members in due course, but if you click on their name above, you’ll see either the details they have supplied so far or a link to more information on them.
There are a number of other post’s up for election at the same time including our regional representatives for the national policy forum, but I’ll comment on those a little later.
