Glossop Tourist Information / Heritage Centre

There has been much ado in the local papers about the fate of Glossop’s tourist information centre and heritage centre, with various parties questioning the commitment etc to providing a service in Glossop as opposed to what the council provides in Buxton.

Now whilst I’m pleased to hear of a review of tourist services in Glossop, I am slightly concerned that there appeared to be an emphasis in the executive members recent press comments on providing services without an actual tourist information centre, which I don’t think would be a good thing for Glossop.

One voice however that doesn’t seem to having a say on the issue is Cllr Jean Wharmby the council’s representative on the heritage centre’s management committee, because surely these issues haven’t just appeared and I would hope that the Council’s representative would have been working with the council as soon as these issues were flagged up rather than (from the impression in the report in local papers) it apparently coming as a surprise to the council.
