A local resident has flagged the issue of whether in the current climate
there are too many taxi (hackney carriage) licences been issued locally.
Now whilst you may not think this is not too much of a problem, the
issue raised with me ranged from a heightened crash risk as drivers
rush to be able to get as many fairs as possible to drivers working too
long to make ends meet.
I flagged the issue at the recent environment select committee meeting
and whilst the issue may not be discussed by them (as it may belong
elsewhere) other councillors from across the area had similar concerns
Whilst the issue will probably be considered in due course I would be
interested if anyone has any views on the issue particularly on if the
limit should be put back in place or whether the current unlimited
system is ok.
