Environment / Social inclusion select
Tuesday evening saw the first meeting in the new council year of the
environment and social inclusion select committees.
The main bulk of the business was electing the chairs / vice chairs
for the year a process that we went through fairly quickly as opposed
to the more lengthy process that had apparently been gone through the
previous evening for the corporate select committee.
Following that the work plan for the year for each committee was
looked at with social inclusion agreeing to establish a subcommittee
to have a look at the council's housing allocation policy to address a
few issue's that were missed in the most recent review.
Environment select agreed to establish a group looking at waste and
recycling with the aim been to push the council's recycling rate
higher than what it is already.
I also hope that there will be a little bit of time and
consideration given to the current scheme which particularly on the
green boxes is still not working as it is supposed to be with green
boxes been missed along with some local residents been messes about
locally over where the green boxes will be collected from.
