Fostering good relations
On the front page of one of Glossop’s paper’s last week was the news that housing chiefs are worried that’s raids on the building works are as a result of vengeance by locals who are against the schemes.
This view however is news to many locals including the local police beat team who so far, view the incidents that have occurred since the building works started as further incidents of anti social behaviour involving young people from the local area, in an area which in part due to the closeness of the park already unfortunately suffers from a number of anti social behaviour incidents.
In fact noting the concerns raised within the article by the Council’s executive member for social and community development of the need for community support in addressing these problem you would think that the issue would have been raised with members of the local community prior to it appearing in the local papers.
However so far the ‘issue’ has not been raised with the local community with no mention been made at the Local Action Group meeting a few weeks ago or even at last week’s estate walkabout which started outside the building site concerned.
In fact the cynical amongst you might think that the issue was only raised in the way it was to ensure a photo call for the executive member but, to phrase the words of the fictional politician Francis Urquhart “you might think that but I couldn’t possible comment”
If however you do see any incidents of anti social behaviour or other concerns taking place please contact our local police beat team either via the housing office on Winster Mews or by phone on 0845 123 3333.
