“In case of Emergency (ICE)” campaign
A message doing the rounds on the Council’s email system, fowarded from the High Peak CVS.
“Dear All,
Following the tragic events in London on Thursday 7th July 2005, A National Campaign “In case of Emergency (ICE)” campaign has been launched. It costs nothing, and will be invaluable should similar events take place. The idea is that you store the word “ICE” in your mobile phone address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted, “In Case of Emergency”. In an emergency situation police, ambulance or hospital staff will then be able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them on your behalf. It’s so simple – everyone can do it. Please will you also forward this to everybody in your address book, it >won’t take too many forwards’ before everybody will know about this. Now that terrorism is a real threat in the UK, let’s work together. By doing the small things, we can all make a very big difference!”
