Trains
There is likely to be industrial action which will affect services running from Glossop to Manchester during the Christmas period.
Additionally, if you are travelling beyond Manchester and would generally use platform 13/14 to change trains. These platforms are closed over Christmas for resurfacing, and there will be alterations to services.
Finally, to start the New Year off, late evening journeys are replaced by buses between Glossop and Manchester.
High Peak Borough Council
The Council will be closed on Monday 26th December, Tuesday 27th and Monday 2nd January.
Council receptions will be closed from Saturday, 24th December and reopen on Tuesday, 3rd January 2023.

Bins
There will be no bin collections on Monday 26th, 27th December and Monday 2nd January. Bin rounds have been rearranged to accommodate any changes.
No green-lidded bins will be collected between Monday, 26th December and Monday, 9th January.
Gamesley & Cottage Lane – Normal collection day Tuesday
The brown bin collection that is due to take place on Tuesday, 27th December, will instead take place on Friday, 30th December.
Glossop Road – Normal Collection Wednesday
No changes – Brown bin as usual on Wednesday, 28th December.
Derbyshire County Council – Recycling centres (‘Melandra tip’)
Household waste recycling centres are open between 8.30 am and 6 pm every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

If you’re looking for Roman Catholic midnight mass, your nearest choice is 5.45 pm for carols, followed by 6.00pm mass at St Mary’s in Glossop.
For the Church of England, there’s a crib service at 4 pm at St John’s in Charlesworth, and then it’s 11.30 pm for midnight communion again at St John’s in Charlesworth.
For services on Christmas Day, for Roman Catholic, there is the Immaculate Conception at 9.30 am and St Mary’s at 9.15 am. For Church of England, it’s 10.00 am at the Geoffrey Allen Centre.
