Council’s Discretionary Business Grants scheme now open
Last week a discretionary business grant fund opened for any small businesses experiencing a significant drop in income as a result of Covid-19.
The grants are targeted at Small businesses of fewer than 50 employees, with fixed property costs that were not eligible for previous Covid-19 grants.
Funding awards are at the discretion of the Council (within Government guidelines) with the maximum grant to be £10,000.
The fund opened on Monday 1 June, and businesses have until Tuesday 16 June to apply, so far 120 web forms have been completed.
The Government has requested that the Council focuses on:
- small businesses in shared offices or other flexible workspaces
- regular market traders with fixed building costs, such as rent, who do not have their own business rates assessment
- Bed and Breakfasts paying Council Tax instead of business rates
- Charity properties in receipt of charitable business rates relief which would otherwise have been eligible for small business or rural rates relief
Only businesses that were trading on 11 March 2020 with ongoing fixed property costs in High Peak, and who have seen a significant reduction in income due to Covid-19 are eligible – but the scheme is open to most business sectors.
Businesses must supply evidence of loss of income and your latest set of accounts.
