Sky lanterns and balloons

Over the course of the last few days, I’ve received a number of emails from a variety of folks across the High Peak, asking for the council to consider a ban on the use of sky lanterns and similar balloons.
In June 2018, following some of the issues that had been raised around a planned lantern event in Buxton, the council took the decision to ban the use of sky lanterns from its land, and if you’ve emailed me recently about this or you are planning to, you will be receiving a variation of the following reply :
Dear,
Thank you for your recent email, with regards to the use of sky lanterns and balloons on council land.
In June 2018, the Council’s executive decided to prohibit the release of sky lanterns and balloons from all council-owned land.
Also, the Council’s executive decided that the prohibition would also apply to events organised by third parties which are held on Council property.
The prohibition was also incorporated into the terms and conditions of the Council’s contracts, leases, licences and entertainment licences organised for events held on Council owned land and property.
Once again thank you for your email, and should you require any further information, please let me know.
Kind regards.
If you would like any further information or have any comments on the issue, please get in touch.
