SFTW – Wellbeing Event, Guide Dog Quiz, SSAFA Car Show
If you’re looking for local things to do this weekend, here are three events taking place that may interest you.
Wellbeing Event
Taking place on Saturday (13th October) from 11 am until 3 pm is the 2nd Wellbeing Event organised by the Glossop Patient Neighbourhood Group to showcase the exciting and diverse range of activities and groups within the Glossopdale Neighbourhood.
There will be information and ‘taster sessions’ that give you to chance to consider how you do, or could, meet the five ways to ‘wellbeing’; Connect, Be Active, Keep Learning, Give and Take Notice.
The event will also include information about your ‘Neighbourhood’, and what it means, who’s involved and how it is working so that you can take more control of your health and wellbeing whatever your circumstances. The Bureau, the Hub of our neighbourhood, will be there to help you to find things in our community that you may want or enjoy connecting with.
There will be demonstrations and taster opportunities for some physical activity including gentle seated exercise, insights into lip reading and mindfulness, examples of hobbies groups and how the neighbourhood team is working to bring health, social care and community services closer together to make your care opportunities better.
They will also be asking people to tell them what they would like to see under the ‘Wellbeing’ headings. Finding out what people particularly enjoy means that they can put people in touch with local groups or help set up a new activity where they don’t already exist locally.
Guide Dog Quiz
On Saturday evening in the Glossop Labour Club on Chapel Street, there will be a quiz organised and in aid of the Guide Dogs.
The quizmaster for the evening is one of the areas Guide Dog Trainers, so not only is anyone in attendance in for an excellent general knowledge quiz there will also be some fun stories of the dogs during their training.
Doors open for the quiz at 7.45pm for an 8 pm start, and the tickets are £3 per person, which includes cakes and nibbles.
