Gamesley Celebration of Achievements 2015
Gamesley Celebration of Achievements 2015 : Taking place on a slightly later date this year than previous years, Thursday 3rd December, saw this year’s Gamesley Celebration of Achievements evening.
As with each year’s event, like with a host of events over the year, I was proud to be in attendance, especially at this event, which has the intention of recognising the contribution that locals make to our local area of Gamesley.
The format was similar to previous years with representatives from DCC (Cty Cllr Dave Wilcox) and HPBC (Cllr Bob Mckeown) dishing out the awards, to folks who had been nominated by a variety of local groups, organisations and individuals.
The celebration also took the opportunity to praise the work of children at St Margaret’s and Gamesley Community Primary School with presentations in the case of Gamesley Community Primary School to their head boy and girl and their deputies.
Whilst this year, I passed on the presenting duties to the other Cllr Mckeown, it was great to see the contributions of a whole host of locals been recognised including Kierran Cartwright and Nick Rogers on behalf of HPBC housing.
I was particularly pleased to see Mary Cahill recognised for her work on the 394 campaign, along with Kerry and Emma from G52 for their work along with the work of Wellfit on the Tunics for Goalpost project.
It was also great to see the newish head from St Margaret’s David Hickey in attendance.
As always the event provides a great reminder of the sense of community spirit on Gamesley and it was great to see the work of so many people who rather than just grumbling, are working in partnership with the council’s, police and other agencies to make a difference in our local area.
A particular mention this year to Pat who whilst ill was still chasing Janet, Mary and everyone else involved to make sure the event went without a hitch.
