Charlesworth & Chisworth Carnival 2015
A big thank you to the organisers of yesterday’s Charlesworth & Chisworth Carnival, who I’m sure all in attendance at the carnival will agree they did a great job both on the day and no doubt for many weeks in preparation of yesterday’s event.
The ‘festivities’ got under way with the traditional carnival parade which started off at St Margaret’s and saw a range of floats including entries from both St Margarets and Gamesley Community Primary School as pictured below
This year St Margaret’s lost out with there Star Wards themed float in the judging for best float coming 3rd, with Gamesley Community Primary School coming 1st for the best walking float.
Horse power was also part of the parade with a great almost western style wagon pulled by a team of horse along the well attended route from St Margarets to the Charlesworth Rec Ground
On arrival at the Rec there was a whole host of activities, from the sounds of ‘South Steel’ and Arnfield Brass, to science demonstrations, bubble blowing and much more
Along with for those of a more energetic frame of mind, a 3 and a bit mile fell race from the ‘Rec’ around Coombes Rocks and back again
All in all a great local event, and you can see more photos from the day at https://flic.kr/p/vB1Jmv (or below)
