Art in the window 2013
Last Friday evening, I was pleased to attend the launch event for this years ‘Art in the Window’ which will see over 50 local / independent retailers showcasing work by local artists on the streets of Glossop and Hadfield.
Art in the Windows is now in its second year, and will see throughout August, Glossop artists displaying their work in the windows of their local shops, and not just paintings, but also ceramics, glass and sculpture.
The art displayed has a true community feel and features work from students at Glossopdale Community College, to local amateur and nationally renowned artists.
A guide / trail map has been produced detailing all the shops that you can see the art at, which can be picked up from any of the following :
Smithy Studios, Smithy Fold
Praze Fine Foods, High Street West
The Oakwood, High Street West
Bay Tree Books, High Street West
George Street Books, George Street
Laura’s Coffee Lounge, Henry Street
Tiger Lily, Station Road
Dolly’s Cafe, Station Road
Friday’s well attended launch event took place in the Oakwood, which in addition to hosting the launch also features a display of art.
Thanks must go to all those involved in putting together the arrangements, and in particular the sponsors for Friday’s launch : Buy Art Fair, Praze Fine Foods and The Smithy Studio, along with the Glossopdale Trust / Bankswood Festival.
