Health and Safety Training
As part of my role as a council appointed board member of High Peak
Community Housing, I went on a trip to Birmingham last Wednesday for health
and safety training with Anthony Collins Solicitors.
The general aim of the training was around what the health and safety
implications are as a board member, and to give guidance on what some of the
key issues on health and safety that directors / board members should be
looking into.
The training was quite useful and helped to highlight on the day following
Workers Memorial Day just what the cost of getting things wrong on health
and safety can be, with statistics for 2007/8 from the Health and Safety
Executive highlighting that 229 workers were killed at work, and the total
cost for 'lost' days at work during that time been £31.8 billion.
