Audit and Regulatory
Following on from the earlier meeting in Glossop, was a trip over the hill
to Chinley for the previously flagged up audit and regulatory meeting.
Amongst other business the meeting received reports on the data quality
audit which is completed by the audit commission to check the accuracy of
the figures the council produces on a whole host of areas, a report which
gave a clean bill of health with the auditors commenting in the way auditors
do that the council's arrangements are 'consistently above minimum
requirements and have continued to build on strengths from last year'.
The meeting also considered a report from audit commission on the council's
use of resources which was within the part 2 / confidential part of the
meeting for slightly different reasons to the usual use of part two which I
will comment on later (once the report of publicly published).
We also had reports on the review of the code of corporate governance, risk
management and insurance, internal audit along with a review on the
performance indicators for electoral registration, something which is new to
local council's and been driven by the electoral commission to enhance and
improve the electoral process.
