High Peak BC Consultation on Hackney Carriage – Private Hire Licensing Policy
High Peak BC Consultation on Hackney Carriage – Private Hire Licensing Policy : Following on from a meeting of the Council’s licensing committee last week, where members of the Labour Group raised a number of concerns about the proposed licensing police for hackney carriages & private hire vehicles, the policy is now out for consultation.
The policy sets out the framework that the council will apply when making decision about new applications and applications for renewal of hackney carriage (taxi) and private hire vehicle, driver and operator licences.
Amongst the concerns that Labour members of the committee has were issues around the colour of vehicles, with the initial proposal suggesting one colour for the bulk of the vehicle but a different colour bonnet, along with issues around the ‘knowledge’ test which is required to be completed by new drivers and the penalty points system.
