What next for the Melandra Castle Pub – continued
Since closing in March 2013, the future of the Melandra Castle Pub has been uncertain, with a number of attempts by it’ owners to sell it been unsuccessful.
However in early April, those efforts were successful and the pub has now been sold to new owners.
Initially from discussions with officers at the council, it seemed that the Melandra was unlikely to reopen as a pub, however I’ve now since been advised by the new owners that it will be reopening as a pub in the next week or two.
As to what this means for the future, it’s difficult to tell, as from the headlines etc the ‘pub trade’ is a difficult one and you perhaps have to question is there enough business in the local area for three pub’s to thrive and survive ?
In terms of an answer to the above we will just have to wait and see – but in the meantime those who are fans of the Melandra have some good news to look forward to.
Update – The news on the grapevine is of a 8th June opening date – pending works etc been finished off to reopen the pub.
