Local and European Elections
This Thursday is polling day for the County Council and European Elections,
and whilst with all the recent anger and so on over MP's expenses you may be
deciding not to vote.
Please remember that these elections are not for Parliament and any message
you want to send by not voting or voting for a fringe party may be heard,
but won't necessarily have the effect you want.
These elections are for the local county council and European Parliament,
and they both have an impact on our daily life from the legislation that is
passed in the European Parliament on issues such as the recent changes to
mobile phone charges, to the service provided by the county council ranging
from concessionary travel to libraries and as such even if you don't use
some of these services making the right decision on how they are run is
important.
In terms of our candidates in the local elections they are all experienced
councillor's who know about working hard to ensure that the County Council
delivers services that are important to us locally and whilst sending a
message on abuses at parliament may be what you want to do, the consequences
of doing this could be felt for years.
Polls are open from 7.00am until 10.00pm on Thursday, please use your vote.
