Final score
Alas it was not to be and despite the best efforts of the players on the day backed by a traveling army of folk from Glossop and further afield we lost 2 – 0, but at the same time although we lost we won with the achivement of getting there in the first place.
The game was a mixed bag with early on in the first half both teams having some admarable chances of scoring before Whitley Bay broke the deadlock at around 30 minutes followed by a second not long before the end of the first half.
The second half featured a plethory of chances for Glossop but despite the best efforts of the players and subs the run of luck was not with Glossop and we were unable to equalize the tie.
The final wistle came after 4 minutes of added time and altogether 12212 fans made the trip to Wembley and whilst they didn’t win I’m sure they will be hailed as heroes at next Saturday’s homecoming parade.
