Development Control – No thanks to Lidl
As possible expected last night's development control meeting decided to
stick with the officer recommendation to refuse the proposals for a Lidl
store in the former Wild and Hallam showroom at Brookfield.
The decision which appears to have met with approval from local residents
may have been expected by the proposers of the store who I understand weren'
t in attendance.
Last nights meeting also considered the proposals on the new Development
Control Committee protocols which have been previously discussed by the
council's standard's committee and now go to the council's audit and
regulatory committee for approval.
There are various items of note amongst the protocol, but one that I have
seen flagged elsewhere

minute limit for members of the public speaking either for or against
applications to 5 minutes, was rejected by the committee.
