Last Wednesday saw the monthly meeting of the Glossopdale Branch, which as a change to normal routine, had a guest speaker. The guest speaker been Gill Taylor, who although a long time member of the branch was speaking to us about her recent experiences in a school in the South African Township of Mamelodi.
The talk / slide show was very interesting and highlighted the still existing differences from the upper class ?white? areas of South Africa, to the very much poorer area?s such as Mamelodi. We were also (as the above picture shows) joined by two residents of Mamelodi, who as part of a cultural exchange programme are current working over here in the UK on an arts project.
Whilst the talk took up much of the normal time for the branch meeting, there was such interest from the branch members that the topic will be returned to at a later date.
