Fish and chips – a new security threat ?
As anyone that attends any of the various political party conferences could tell you, over recent years there is a heavy police presence, ensuring that the conference is secure, and that the risk of any sort of security problem is reduced.
The fish and chip link is in relation to the Saturday evening of the conference, when Alan and myself, went out for a bite to eat.
Now been in Blackpool the only appropriate dish was fish and chips, which was purchased and eaten as we started back to the Imperial Hotel. Now normally that would be the end of the story, but as we had been walking back towards the Imperial Hotel, we were now in the ‘outer security zone’ and as such all the bins in sight were sealed up and unusable.
This left us with the problem of what to do with the remains with no place to dump them, except the street which after having attended a session on neighborhoods and respect, and £80 fines for dropping litter would not have been the thing to do.
So we headed back in through security expecting a bin somewhere along the way, but to no avail, as the only bin was on the other side, only accessible once we had passed though security. So in we went, with two lots of empty fish and chip wrappers that had to be x-rayed prior to going in the bin.
