For. local’s planning to attend Glossop’s service/parade, they are asked to assemble in front of the Municipal Buildings (on the car park) from 10.30am to join the parade to the Cenotaph at 10.50am.
The parade will make its way to the Cenotaph for the Remembrance Service which will be conducted by Father Greg Tobin and Rev Norman Shaw. The service will be attended by the Deputy Lieutenant, Mr David Holtom and the Deputy Mayor of the High Peak John Walton.
Following the service, the procession will re-form and proceed to the Market Ground for dismissal. Refreshments will be available at Bradbury Community House where artist Vaugh Parker is exhibiting some first world war paintings.
Also from 10.30am at the Cenotaph, local students will read out the names of the 307 men on the war memorial who died in the First World Ward.
Past Mayor Matt Stone will join locals in Hadfield. A service will commence in St Andrews Church at 10.00am. Those attending the service will walk to the Cenotaph at 10.50am for the Remembrance Service which will be conducted by the Rev’d Michael Grimsley and Mr John Roberts. Following the service refreshments will be served in the community room of Hadfield Hall.
In Charlesworth, locals are asked to assemble at the Cenotaph at 10.45am, services then follow at either St John's or Top Chapel.
In the evening at 7.00pm a remembrance beacon will be lit at the top of Monks Road that should be viewable from many locations across Glossopdale.
For those wanting something a little more active, Charlesworth and Chisworth Parish Council's are hosting a procession and beacon event.
The procession will be setting off from the Charlesworth Cenotaph at 6.00pm and processing to the recreation at Chisworth, in time for 7.00pm where a beacon/bonfire will be lit. Refreshments will then be available the Charlesworth Club provided by the WI following the event.
Please note that Marple Road will be closed between Charlesworth and Chisworth for the duration of the event.
